I hear a noise when recording with the Helix Board / Firefly. What could be wrong?

For PC users, this is most likely caused by interference of some sort. The most common source of this would be from your graphics card. It is advised that you keep about 1 or two slots between your FireWire card and your graphics card to help avoid such a noice occuring.

Mac users may want to check they do not have the OSS 3D Daemon process running on their system. This is an audio plugin for iTunes and has been known to cause issues with noise when running the Helix Board and Firefly.

To check if you have this installed, go to the Applications > Utilities and run Activity Monitor.app. You can run a filter using OSS 3D Daemon to find the application. Highlight and select quit process to quit the program. The OSS 3D Daemon may be installed to run as a startup program. If so, you should uninstall the program and reinstall it once again, this time making sure that you do not enable it as a start-up process.
