Summit Setup Suggestion #1

Above you can find an image detailing our first suggested setup for the Summit digital mixer.

In this example the CD is sent via AES/EBU and cannot be sent to the computer; however can be used to play along with while recording your channels. If a user were to want the CD player's signal to get to the DAW/recording software/internet stream, they'll need to connect it to one of the 1/4" inputs.

As for your computer, anything more than a modern core 2 duo processor with about 2GB of RAM should suffice, although our engineer suggests the following:

  • Operation system: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
  • CPU: iCore 5
  • Mainboard: ASUS P7H57D-V EVO, Gigabyte GA-H57M-USB3, MSI H57M-ED65
  • RAM amount: 4 GB DDR3
  • HDD: Seagate Cheetah or Barracuda
  • Software: Samplitude 11 for CD/DVD Pre-mastering
  • Plus a CD or DVD burner of your choice.

You need to ensure you perform a full Windows Update before installing the Summit to the computer, just to make sure you have all the needed drivers. If you're going to run the internet on the computer for the live streams, Kaspersky virus protection should run fine, as may AVG; but try with and without the virus protection installed/active to determine whether it affects the audio stream on your setup.

Samplitude is highly recommended for recording, editing and mastering audio CDs. A quick search of youtube will no doubt yield a couple of great samplitude tutorial videos.
